"I grew up listening to big bands and the Grand Ole Opry. I used to beg my mother to let me listen to them on the radio. I've always wanted to try to recreate the feeling and sound of big band jazz without a big band. I believe I've done it here. This concert was a closed session, taped at a special gathering of my closest friends. This is the first and only video of mine which contains the type of music I call HILLBILLY JAZZ. You may have heard HILLBILLY JAZZ recorded on the Flying Fish label, as well as NEW HILLBILLY JAZZ on Shikata Records. Probably, this is the last time you'll see me in a tuxedo. I enjoyed performing and I hope you enjoy Vassar Swings."
